As in the article "Harun Farocki: The ultimately triumphal climb of the sharp look" , Harun Farocki has been one of our more well -known filmmakers for a long time.
However, for our more well -known critical filmmakers, never mainstream, which makes it curious about the reason why Harun Farocki has been at number 23 on the world rankings of art by over 300 places by (January 2016). There is a reason because:
Harun Farocki teaches us our world
Harun Farocki is often referred to as essay filmmakers, which means that the admirers of his documentary treatises of current life, our science and our culture, our government and our society are also absolutely right.
And yet it is a little bit: Farocki's films are certainly witty, but whether they are really essays (witty treatises in which scientific, cultural and/or social phenomena are addressed and analyzed); Or whether it is only essays can be doubted.
Farocki's films immediately illuminate our today's life, his issues affect us all, and he, by the way, manages to expose some madness at an apparently calm pace that distinguishes today's life.
In the beginning, 1969, still "the words of the chairman" (Mao tse tung), he had already arrived at the externally determined work animal with "the division of all days" , in 1971 he devoted himself to the capitalist value of goods and workforce "a thing that sees itself"
The first topic of war flashes in 1981 with "something becomes visible" "training" how the leader employee is trained "nonsense" And in 1990, in "Life: FRG" Farocki shows us the absurd world of risk (no-risk) society with a full overview.
In 1994 Farocki, in the "retraining" , put the recipes of success of a "sales company" on the grain, with direct references to the training contained in the inertia of the brain: "If you go away here, your vocabulary will have decidedly reduced."
"application" is about the suspended, the application training course long -term unemployed, whose language absurdities convey the same hopelessness as "The appearance" (1996) of the protagonists from the advertising industry.
In 1998 Farocki took us talk and game shows, stupid machines that are somewhere on the edge of a big city and earn their money with the fact that any everyday fame is humiliated by a celebrity that is not known.
In 2012, the consumption language comes a little absurd, in "A new product" the creator waves himself into the linguistic diaspora with oysters and pearls, more of a student on the board as a clever product manager.
In the article "Harun Farocki: Leiser, Triumphaler rise of the sharp look", many and much more serious films Farockis are presented, he has also seen and treated war and weapons, state and military and thousands of other things. His late work, which fills museums, artificial houses and galleries, also fills long theoretical considerations, below the direct access is shown to you.
But Harun Farocki's films about everyday life, the work, the capitalist conditions are important to all of us. Above all, those who are currently looking at the changes in the rules of our society rather horrified should pull in a few Harun Farocki films-it is always impressive how Farocki has already captured "all the crap" in the film, while today as psychotic and intangible managers were still in no way in an unrestricted admiration of society and the average citizen has not yet had a pale idea of how the mechanisms Work with which our society should prepare itself and put it itself in just about a decade.
A lot of us currently notice this, and the resistors are greater in all undesirable directions. It is absolutely a reason for grief that Harun Farocki is no longer there to teach us the watchful look.

Harun Farocki was born on January 9, 1944 in a neutest, at that time Reichsgau Sudetenland (today Czech: Nový Jicín).
The son of Indian doctor Abdul Qudus Faroqui and his wife Lili, who immigrated to Germany in the 1920s, was called Harun El Usman Faroqhi at the birth and later simplified the name pragmatically.
The family was not based in the neutestritis, Farocki Mother had just been evacuated from Berlin to avoid the bombs of the Allies, and in the post -war period, several moves followed to India and Indonesia until the family finally settled in Hamburg in 1958.
The father opened a surgical practice in Hamburg that brought the family a good life, but the young Farocki rebelled early against the old and went to West Berlin in 1962 (at that time not at 18). There he went through as a Beatnik, caught up with his high school diploma at the evening high school - and in 1966 turned his first three -minute goods for SFB (broadcaster Freise Berlin, predecessor of the RBB).

It has to do with the fact that everything he saw in his films about war madness, racism madness, craving of consumption, economic madness, banking madness and more madness and treated so early.
Take a look at Farocki's films, unfortunately he can no longer ask us to look closely. But it was his goal of life to analyze the power of the pictures for us, and many of his films can not only sharpen our eyes, but are still surprisingly up to date today.
