About the artist:
Alison Wright was a well -known documentary photographer and author, who was known for her work, in which she photographically documented threatened cultures and human crises around the world. For her extraordinary work, she received several Lowell-Thomas Travel Journalism Awards and a Dorothea-Lange scholarship for documentary photography at the University of California, Berkeley.
Wright's school days at Syracuse University and UC Berkeley shaped their unique worldview. This was strengthened in 2000 by an almost fatal accident in Laos, as documented in her memoirs "Learning to Breathe" . Alison Wright tragically died on March 23, 2022 in a heart attack when diving on the Azores. Their impressive photographs and stories continue to motivate and influence future generations.
