Damien Hirst has made himself his own brand - a very successful. The painter and sculptor is now one of the internationally best known contemporary artists, he regularly exhibits in the important art houses in the world and collectors sometimes pay for his work.
He had secured the audience's attention at the latest with spectacular and provocative installations such as the animal carcasses pickled in formaldehyde. With no less sensational works, for example with a skull with 8,601 diamonds, he stayed in the (art) headlines.
And Hirst worked hard: born in Bristol in 1965, he grew up in poor conditions. From 1986 to 1989 he studied at the Goldsmiths College in London, organizing the exhibition "Freeze" in 1988, which is the birth of the "Young British Artists", and received the renowned Turner Prize in 1995.
