Image "The Fuji from Gotenyama in Shinangawa from Tokaido" (around 1830-32), framed
Hokusai (1760-1849) was one of the most important representatives of the Ukiyo-e, the Japanese color woodcut. His pictures influenced artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt. This motif comes from his famous series of image "36 Views of the Fuji Berg" (1830-36), in which Hokusai collected the landscapes around the highest mountain in Japan.
