Yayoi Kusama saw the light of day in Japan in 1929 and first devoted himself to studying painting in Kyoto before moving to New York City in the late 1950s. Since her first solo exhibition in her home country in 1952, the works of the artist have been regularly observed in both individual and group exhibitions. In the mid-1960s, she consolidated her status as an important avant-garde artist in New York by organizing groundbreaking and formative happings, events and exhibitions. At the end of the 1980s, she acquired extensive appreciation according to a number of international individual exhibitions. In addition, she represented Japan in 1993 at the 45th Biennale in Venice and received a lot of praise from the critics.
